Our Philosophy
We believe in the power of playful, invitational and inclusive maker spaces. We have learned over many years of teaching that every individual is an artist. Our mission is to provide just the right mix of environment, encouragement and fun that helps every individual find their own creative magic in our Ventura makerspace.
The Glitter Barn art experience is joyful, hands-on and, most of all, fun! Our goal is to help everyone harness the power of their own creativity. We are dedicated to removing barriers that keep people from pursuing their own creativity and offering a creative community space where everyone belongs.
At Glitter Barn, you can find lots of options based on what interests you. From classes with guided instruction to process art where the focus is on the experience rather than the outcome, Glitter Barn invites you to find and follow your creative path and make some friends along the way! We’ve got kids’ art classes and art experiences for teens and adults. Everyone belongs here at Glitter Barn!
Meet Glitter Barn’s Team
Sarah has over 20 years of experience teaching kids and adults of all ages in private, public and homeschool settings. Sarah has Bachelor’s degrees from Westmont College and a graduate degree from Pepperdine University. She has been the recipient of local and national awards for excellence in teaching and mentoring students. She is bilingual in Spanish and has a professional background working in multicultural education and with students with special needs. She is a mom of four kids who loves a good flea market and hot yoga. She opened Glitter Barn because she believes passionately in the power of creativity to transform lives and communities.
Benicia brings to Glitter Barn extensive teaching experience with kids of all ages, including in Montessori classrooms. She has her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from Westmont College and finds inspiration in fashion and performance art. Benicia is also a mom of two littles and an accomplished local musician with her own band. As an art teacher, she emphasizes creative expression through all mediums. She brings to her teaching a love for both art and music and a passion to empower others to grow as artists, makers and creators.
We moved to Ventura at the end of December after a long previous year of upheaval and were in search of a place for my sons to be creative and have some fun! Glitter Barn has been the perfect spot for that and more! They were so patient with my youngest as he found his way and he now wakes up asking if it’s a Glitter Barn day! Both boys absolutely LOVE their time there and we are so happy to be part of their community! Thank you for making us feel so welcome!
My kids (11 & 8 years old) love every second at Glitter Barn. They are always counting down the days until they get to go back. Teacher B is so welcoming and energetic. She takes the time to do 1:1 projects with my very imaginative creative child. She works hard to help him feel seen and accomplish his goals. She gives daily reports on how well my children are doing & how they are improving. Sarah, the owner, is very helpful and patient with billings & homeschool funds. You can tell that place is run very well & she is very organized. They have every product & tool to accomplish our lil creator’s dreams. A couple of my children’s favorite creations were scented candles and a light saber. Thank you for all you do for my children!!
Glitter barn has such fun-filled learning experiences for kids. My kids enjoy their time there and have developed friendships. The teachers are amazing, patient, and fun!
Both my girls really love going to Glitterbarn! They love Ms. Benicia as their teacher and they bring home the most amazing homemade pieces. Just last week they made their own homemade candles. They also have made some really good friends while attending Glitterbarn. They look forward to going every week!
My daughter had a wonderful time at the glitter barn celebrating her fifth birthday. The team there helped the kids make beautiful projects!
Glitter barn is the best! The ladies who run it do such an awesome job and the space is amazing! My kids talk about the night out as “being the best party ever”

My daughter celebrated her 7th birthday at The Glitter Barn and the entire group of girls had the best time! Sarah was wonderful to work with and the instructors the morning of the party were amazing! They managed our large party with ease and made the experience magical for my daughter and her friends. I couldn’t have been happier with the entire experience!
Glitter barn is such a gem in Ventura! My kids love going to the summer camps especially! Glitter barn has even done special events for both their scout troops. The owner Sarah is amazing with the kids. I am so grateful for this resource in our community. 10 out of 10 recommend.
